Who is this course for?

For fitness instructors, exercise referral instructors, Yoga teachers, Pilates instructors and personal trainers who wish to gain knowledge and skills to work confidently with older adults. The course will allow you to design and instruct safe exercise programmes to meet the needs of older exercisers.
 
This qualification also provides progression to:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (QCF)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral (QCF)

Do I need any pre-requisites to undertake the qualification?

  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (QCF) (Gym, ETM or Aqua) or
  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (QCF) or
  • Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral (QCF) or
  • Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga (QCF) or
  • Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Mat work (QCF

What will I study?

This qualification comprises two mandatory units:
 
  1. Physical activity and health considerations for older adults
  2. Designing and adapting exercise programmes for the older adult
